What I Wore Wednesday- Black and Blue

Hmmm, looking back on this outfit I'm just not sure I like the cardigan tied... what do you guys think? Should I leave it tied or just wear it loose?

What I Wore Wednesday- Birthday Dress!

My mommy sent this lovely dress to me for my birthday this year, isn't it pretty? She chose perfectly, and it fits like a dream. She has pretty good taste, I think!

Lucas always ends up taking way more pictures of my face than my outfit. I get frustrated with him sometimes, but actually, it's kind of cute.

This opal necklace used to belong to my grandmother- I love it so much. Opal is my birthstone as well, so it's doubly as special to me.

What I Wore Wednesday- Renaissance Festival

For my birthday, Lucas surprised me by taking me to one of my very favorite places- the Renaissance Festival! I used to work as a garland girl at the Colorado Renaissance Festival for my summer job, and the festival held my heart since I was a little girl. The smells of turkey legs and dirt and beer- elephants and roasted sugared almonds- it all transports me back home. I didn't even realize that we had a fair nearby this time of year, so it was a wonderful surprise to find out where we were going! I got all dressed up in my garb I still had from my job at the faire- I love dressing up in Medieval costume!

What I Wore Wednesday- Ruffles and Roly Poly

Look at this cute little guy- I grew up calling this bug a roly poly, but my husband insists they are "pill bugs". What do you call them?

What I Wore Wednesday- Retro Lady

I'm quite sorry for the lack of commentary on today's post- I've been feeling really under the weather and really want to just get back in my jammies and go to bed. I don't know what's up with me, but I'm afraid I might be coming down with the flu- perhaps you can tell by my pallid coloring? Anyway, please forgive my sickness- this is what I'm wearing, pretty much all from Modcloth. I love the retro shapes of these pieces, they are some of my new favorites!

It was ridiculous windy outside today, and consequently, there were a lot of pictures of this nature, which I found hilarious. I'm not quite as sassy as Marilyn Monroe, for sure! So awkward :P

What I Wore Wednesday- Mix and Match

Today is a big, bad, scary day for me. Maybe it sounds trivial, and it probably is, but to me- today is making my palms sweat and there is a knot in my throat I can't seem to swallow. Today, I am turning in job applications.

See, between being a student and a housewife since 2008, I haven't held a regular "job" since before I became an adult. Getting back into the work field when one has no experience to really speak of is a bit nerve wracking, to say the least, especially in the current economy.  I went to the mall to fill out some applications, and today, it's time to turn them in and see what's in store for me! Keep your fingers crossed, please :)

So today's outfit is in preparation for this big day- I wanted to look professional, mature and pulled together, but I also wanted to feel like myself and throw in a bit of spice. I did this by keeping my color palette black, white and grey and then I playfully mixed some subtle patterns into my outfit. I have some stripes on my top, a houndstooth bag and (look closely) some fun fishnet print nails! I feel comfortable and just like myself, and hopefully that comes through today.

Picnic in the Park

(credit: Alyssa Sholes)

My lovely friend Alyssa joined me the other day for a visit and a tasty picnic in the park. After she generously helped me in the kitchen with my Earl Grey Cupcakes, we packed up some simple PB&J and tuna fish sandwiches, a thermos of apple juice and naturally, a couple of our yummy cupcakes- and then we were off to the park!
