Make-up Monday!

First off, Happy Labor Day! I hope you lovelies are all enjoying a fantastic, relaxing, holiday weekend!

The next order of business... Makeup Monday!

This is actually a look from several weeks ago that I find myself wearing more and more often into the upcoming fall season- I am in love with a brighter, darker lip for the cooler weather, and I am a firm believer that one can never go wrong with a classic red lip! Always in style. I found this great new red at the drugstore not too long ago and can't get enough of it- the color is Red Revival in Maybelline's Color Sensational line. It's not glossy, but not quite matte.... it's a really nice, modern, creamy texture that I'm seeing a lot of this season.

I kept my eyes neutral with a thicker retro line that I prefer, just slightly winged out at the edges.  I put a shimmery taupe eyeshadow in the crease of my eye to give it a little depth. I like to use the lighter shade of eyeshadow in the inner corner and just a bit under my eye- it gives a really nice wide awake effect when you've maybe had less sleep than you'd like- perfect for those of you who have just started school again! Darn late night studying! A nice trick I've also learned is to line your waterline with a white or light beige pencil- it visually extends the whites of your eye so your eyes look whiter, wider and brighter! Woo!

I am fortunate to have pretty clear skin, and I rarely use foundation, but a clean, even canvas is a nice touch to this look. I do have some pretty serious dark circles though, and I slather major concealer on those suckers to get them to retreat! (Any great concealer recommendations? Holla!)

I think skipping blush, or just using a really light or peachy tone looks most modern with this stronger lip. I lined my lips first with a lip liner the same color as my natural lips, and filled in with the liner as well to provide a base for my red. Try using a lip brush to fill in the red- do one coat, blot your lips on a tissue, then reapply! This helps your red to really last throughout the day so you have fewer trips to powder your nose! Awesome!
